Turkey Face-off

Turkeys

Radnor Reflections, January 26, 2011

A theme is developing. It’s either birds in weird places, like yesterday’s heron in the city, or just plain weird birds. Turkeys definitely fit in the latter category. A group of fifty or more crossed the path all around us on a Radnor Lake walk this week, the males all plumed and all of them gobbling incessantly and strutting their goofy walk. They paid us no attention, although I’ve heard they are known to attack on upon occasion. That would be an ignominious end, to be attacked by a turkey! They do have ample reason to be resentful, of course.
